It could be stitched as a larger piece but the effect would be lost. Most likely the sampler is from England. I have found the school and a birth record of a matching Miss Sweeting nearby. A Board School is not the same as a "Boarding School". Board Schools were the first state run schools. Design is 111 stitches wide by 92 stitches high. Below are
