A Vintage Taisho-era Akago・赤後  Kamisori ・New Old Stock

The Kanji / Katakana on the Kamisori read as:

part of the same geological strata group as Kyoto stones

then work it against the lapping plate with water until every pencil mark has disappeared

The ura was cleaned and polished — enough to bring the steel back

Iwasaki・岩崎・Tamahagane Kamisori Sharpening A Vintage Taisho-era Akago・赤後 KamisoriRare Vintage Iwasaki Tamahagane Razor, most likely made by Master Shigeoshi Iwasaki or Mizuochi San in the 1960s the Japanese Showa period. We restored it to be shave ready and added a rattan wrapping with black Urushi Lacquer. The Kamisori was used and you can see that on the Omote side where the previous owner was honing pieces a bit away to make the sharpening easier. It comes with a Kamisori box that was slightly altered by the previous owner.
