You could get around needing additional blue sources by not playing Absorb, but I think most of the control players will want access to a hard counterspell

Like I said in the strategy section of this post, this card is basically not usable as a starter type Pokemon since it only has 40 for HP, however, other than that, the card is pretty good, having a low retreat cost, and a pretty good move, that does good damage and is pretty quick
