This was a working bridle and there are old repairs to the noseband and the reins

This steel bit has a dark aged patina

so should not deteriorate further

An Edwardian Mounted Officers Horse Bit - Bit1037 nov24 This was a genuine workingA branch or pad cheek nickel alloy bit. The mouthpiece is stamped has a low port. The fixed cheeks are curved, each bears a curb rein loop, there is a curved shackle bar. There is a round brass cheek badge or boss on each side of the bit. In the centre of each cheek badge there is a monogram E VII R for King Edward VII, this dates the bit between 1901 and 1911. Surrounding the monogram there is a garter or border which reads " Honi Soit Qui Mal Y
