Morus, 'Hartoot' mulberry Genus_Morus blooms late MayMorus 'Hartoot' Variety description: A new cultivar for us. Little information is available on its origins. 'Toot' means mulberry in Persian. Leaves are exceptionally large like those of Morus macroura. This cultivar has withstood our USDA zone 6a winter without damage. Our young tree set a few fruit this year but birds and chipmonks beat us to them, so we have yet to try the berries. We are told that it less productive than other mulberry cultivars.
